You gyp sunlight, you pay.
Chinese court has ordered the developers of the Nanjing’s super tall skyscraper Zifeng Tower to pay a nearby resident for restricting his sunlight. A nearby resident Chen Jun bought his apartment in 2003, two years before the construction of the Zifeng Tower began. When the tower was completed in 2010, Chen’s discovered that it has blocked out all his light. He subsequently sued the developers for “violating his rights to enjoy sunshine” and won a compensation of 100,000 yuan (approx. US$15,500). According to the law in China, residential apartments should have access to at least two hours of sunlight during the coldest time of the year and no structures should limit this. Once in a while the little guy gets a break.
