24-year-old Londoner Lara Casalotti was in Thailand last month when she felt pain in her lower neck. It turned out to be acute myeloid leukemia. Now Casalotti will need a stem cell transplant to save her life. As a daughter of a Thai mother and an Italian father, chances of finding a matching donor for mixed race individuals are extremely low.
Casalotti will need a donor by April. With just weeks away, netizens – including J.K. Rowling and Stephen Fry – are quickly spreading the message via hatchtag #match4Lara.
